Benjamin Edgar
Incense Bowl in Concrete.
I used to dance every Thursday night at a place called The Drink Ultra Lounge. It was a religious experience; ritualistic in the sense that everyone there couldn't wait until the next time it happened. I met Ben on the dance floor. We were just two people having the time of our lives being completely ridiculous.
At the time, I didn't know how much talent, grace, and heart was in the guy I met passing out dollar Old Style and PBRs. We only met because he and his friends and me and mine were having as much fun of as possible and had to combine forces.
Ben has been creating things since I met him. He secretly created Boxed Water Is Better when no one was looking. We all saw him on a regular basis but didn't know about his secret project, and could hardly believe it when we saw the Boxes on the shelves at stores.

I think we are all experiencing the same thing now. Ben has created a new line of objects that are simply elegant and curious in nature. Ben has been pursuing this line of items—learning how to create and form the materials, challenging himself at new levels—for a couple of a years, while most of us sit around wondering why life isn't what we thought it would be.
I'm so inspired just by knowing him and I couldn't be more proud that I met him dancing to eighties music way back then. On top of everything else, he just had a write up on Style.com. His work and dedication to pursuing his ideas is something that has inspired me to pursue my own.
Go check out his work, and if you go out at all in Grand Rapids, you just might be lucky enough to spot him on the dance floor.
